Reflections in Color & Motion | 14Y Gallery
14th Street Y
Sirovich Center for Balanced Living Open Art Studio & Drama Therapy
Reflections in Color & Motion showcases the personal and evolving identities of older adult artists through vibrant visual storytelling. Each piece captures a moment of self-reflection, shaped by lived experience and creative expression. Many of the works on view emerged through Creative Arts Therapy, where older adults explored identity, connection, and healing through art and drama. This therapeutic approach centers the creative process, offering a supportive space for reflection, expression, and community-building. The exhibit highlights the power of art to transcend time, spark dialogue, and celebrate the ever-evolving nature of identity.
This exhibit is part of Educational Alliance's month-long CelebratEArts festival and one of many events honoring the creativity of older New Yorkers across disciplines. The festival brings together visual art, music, theater, and dance to showcase the talents of an intergenerational community.
Through performances, workshops, and exhibitions, CelebratEArts challenges aging stereotypes and affirms that artistic expression flourishes at every stage of life.
